THE B& B MARTINA LIES IN THE PICTURESQUE VILLAGE OF MEZZOCORONA SIDUATED IN THE PIANA ROTALIANA, 2 KILOMETRES FROM THE SAN MICHELE ALL’ADIGE MOTORWAY EXIT

For our guests Guest Card Free, visit the most important Museums and Castles of our region.

We are now just about in the center of the region,

Trentino-Alto Adige from here you can easily reach a a different destination every day.

The town of Mezzocorona is situated in the fertile plain of Rotaliana, well renowned for its red wine, the tasty Teroldego. From here You can reach the Monte di Mezzocorona (the mountain of Mezzocorona) either by an easy track provided with iron ladders and railings (Burrone Giovanelli track) or more comfortably by cableway(one of the steepest in Europe).

Once on top, on the plateau you’ll find two hotels where you can rest or walk further on towards the Malga Kraun, where You’ll be able to enjoy the wonderful sight over the Val d’Adige.

Besides this the fresh and clean waters of the many lakes of this region are only 30 minutes away by car.

The lakes of Levico and Caldonazzo near Pergine, Valsugana,  are both ideal for a good swim, and so is the Lake of Caldaro/Kaltern on the “Strada del Vino/Weinstrasse” (“the way of the wine”).

The lake of Molveno is another delightful site to see, with its beautiful landscape and its wide lawn-lined shores surrounded by the woods of the Paganella plateau, where You can take a shadowy walk or pause in Andalo, a tourist resort both winter and summer, where there are lawns provided with games for the children, bowling alleys and tennis courts. There’s also an indoors swimming pool.

Well worth seeing is the Val di Non (a valley famous for its apples) where orchards almost fill up all the space available.

An interesting tour of its lakes could include the lake of Santa Giustina, created in 1950 by the barrage of the river Noce  where You can see the huge dam, the lake of Tovel, whose waters turned red during the summer and the lake Smeraldo (“Emerald”) near Fondo, that got its name by the deep green hue of its waters. Here a guided tour will takeYou along the canyon and its highly suggestive landscape.

Another important site in Val di Non is the sanctuary of San Romedio. Owned and run by the franciscan friars, it stands on a more than 90 meters high rock, in the gorge dug by the rivers Rio Freddo and Verdès. Legend has it that the hermit Romedio tamed the bear that devoured his horse and rode him to Trento where he had to meet the Bishop Vigilio.

The sanctuary’s structure is an assembly of five churches of different ages joined together by 131 steps along which are placed the seven chapels of the Passion of Christ with 18th century wooden statues.

In the fenced park You’ll see the bears kept by the friars as a way to remember the wondrous taming of the wild beast performed by the Saint.

Bears can also be seen in Spormaggiore, one of the many wildlife preservation parks of Trentino.

Very interesting are the pyramids of Segonzano (Valle di Cembra), peculiar formations of cone-shaped rocks that can reach the height of 20 meters, sometimes topped by a horizontal slab-the result of thousand years of morainic soil erosion through the action of atmospheric agents.

In Trentino You can also visit many museums and castles.

In Trento: the castle of Buonconsiglio (i.e. good advice...), the Museum of Natural Sciences, the Duomo, and the Museo Diocesano Tridentino.

In Rovereto: the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Arts (MART), one of the most prominent cultural institutions of the region.

In Bolzano/Bozen: the Mercantile Museum, with a permanent exhibition of  works of art, furniture and fittings of the baroque age, and paintings by various authors.

The Museo Provinciale of Natural Sciences, the Archaeological Museum, in which is preserved-in a refrigerated cell-the mummy of Otzi, the 5300 years old Alps prehistoric hunter found in the Similaun glacier in 1991.

The Civic Museum with a rich collection of objects and costumes belonging to the folk heritage.

Winter: during this season You can reach in a 30 minutes drive the ski facilities on the Monte Bondone or Paganella. Anyway it only takes little more than an hour to get to almost every ski resort of the region.

During Christmas time You could find it very amusing to pay a visit to the traditional Christmas little market-fairs being set up all over the region. You’ll find a slightly different one in every city from Trento to Rovereto, from Bolzano/Bozen to Merano/Meran and Bressanone/Brixen etc. according to the local tradition.

By looking at the guide and map of Trentino-Alto Adige/Sudtyrol You’ll realize how many opportunities this alpine region has to offer.
